How well are our children doing?

The children were sitting their tests around the time of the meeting.

Next year we will put more focus on writing and spelling key words, which are most frequently used.

What’s happening in the curriculum?

At the recent full governing body governors meeting the governors discussed the planned new building.  We were keen to discuss how the timing of the new building might least impact the children's learning.  Most of the building work will happen within a compound set up between the two schools. We are pleased that there will be a new entrance for pedestrians into the school. which will reduce the potential for accidents with cars and the car park and improve the flow of parents into and out of the school at the start and end of school.

How are we, as a Governing Body supporting our school?

The governors viewed the presentation made to HMI inspectors last term regarding how the school is assessing without the use of levels. The inspectors did not come into school but requested some information.  The presentation was highly regarded by the inspector who received it and helped the governors understand that life without levels was better for the children. The focus is on laying a solid foundation of learning and to master the skills that are expected for their age group. There is a helpful explanation of how teachers want children to develop in their learning with the use of minecraft, click this link.
