Newsletter - Week beginning Monday February 11th 2019

Dear Parents and Carers,

FOOD IN LUNCHBOXES

Please can you ensure that if your child is bringing in a packed lunch to school it is a balanced meal with some healthy food choices. Schools have to promote healthy living and this includes healthy eating. We recommend children have the (free) school lunches which are balanced across the week and are enjoyed by the children who eat them.

If your child is bringing in a packed lunch then we recommend the following:

  • Healthy sandwich choice (not chocolate spread or any product containing nuts)

  • Fruit and / or chopped veg

  • Yoghurt

  • A small treat of some kind eg a healthy bar, few crisps

Please do not send in any products which contain nuts or visible eggs (eg egg mayonnaise, scotch eggs). This is due to some children in school having allergies to these products.

SAFE AND NEIGHBOURLY PARKING
We have been contacted by residents living nearby asking if school could remind parents not to park on verges, across driveways and to keep well away from the construction site. One resident had witnessed a “near miss” involving a child due to unsafe parking. May we also remind you that our Park and Stride scheme means you can park in the car park at the Arrow public house at drop off and home time.

EVENTS AT ST PETERS CHURCH

Our friends at St Peter’s Church have asked me to make you aware of some of the activities that are taking place at St Peter’s over the next few weeks that might be of interest to you and your children. On Sunday (17th February) at 4pm they have their monthly Messy Church service with lots of crafts, activities and a meal for everyone who attends. During half term there are a range of events planned, details below. All are free and open to children aged 4-11. Finally on Tuesday 5th March, there is a Pancake Party to celebrate Shrove Tuesday – all welcome!

REMINDER TO ALL PARENTS You will have received a letter recently about the new Parent App. Please take this opportunity to sign up and review the contact data we hold on you and your child. If you have any problems registering please contact the school office for help.

CIVVIES DAY AND CAKE SALE

Thursday 14th February 2018 will be a civvies day (non uniform) and cake sale organised by SHINE. We ask that those children and staff wishing to participate in civvies day to bring in cakes for us to sell at 3.15pm in The Hive. If your child would like to participate, we would appreciate any contributions of homemade or shop bought cakes to sell. We would be grateful if you could please ensure that any cakes supplied do not contain any nuts. Please bring your donations into your class on the morning of the event, and join us for the cake sale at 3.15pm. Many thanks for your continued support.
