Newsletter. Week beginning Monday September 11th 2017.

Dear Parents and Carers,

READING CHAMPIONS

As part of our continued efforts to raise the standards of literacy in school, we’re hoping to encourage volunteers to train to become one of our reading champions in order to support reading in our school on a regular basis. A letter is attached with more detail, and if this is something you are interested in, please contact Sarah Kesterson (Assistant Headteacher) to discuss this further.

VACANCY FOR A SCHOOL CLEANER.

We have a vacancy for a cleaner to work after school 3.15 – 5.00. It is a 52 week contract and starts from Monday October 2nd. Details for the post can be found on our website under vacancies.

WELCOME TO YEAR 1 AND 2 MEETINGS.

We are repeating the meetings about Years 1 and 2. Wednesday September 13th 2.15pm year 2 meeting in the music and drama room and Thursday September 14th 2.15pm year 1 meeting in the music and drama room.

AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS.

After school clubs will start week beginning September 25th. These clubs are for Year 2 children but if we have any spaces we can offer them to Year 1 children. Parents and carers of Year 2 children should have received a letter last week. Please return as soon as possible so that we can allocate places.

DRAMA CLUB - Please note we have just found out (after the letters were sent out) that our drama club leader is no longer running her after school drama clubs. We will endeavour to offer drama club with another provider but this will take a little while to organise. If your child would like to do drama after school club please return the slip indicating this but be aware that the club will not start w/b Sept 25th.

ANNUAL QUESTIONNAIRE- LAST TERM.

The responses were overwhelmingly positive. (Results are available on the website). The main area parents wanted us to review is homework. We have done this and we will be sharing the policy with governors at the standards committee meeting in two weeks’ time. After that, we will share the policy with parents.

TAPESTRY ACCOUNTS.

If your child is in Rabbit, Squirrel or Badger classes and they were in Year R last year, we hope you have enjoyed viewing your child’s Early Year’s Tapestry profile. These accounts will be closed on 15th September, so you may wish to download or print their profile before that date.
