Newsletter - Week beginning Monday April 29th 2019

Dear Parents and Carers,

PENALTY NOTICES FOR POOR ATTENDANCE / PUNCTUALITY

Please note that schools have been advised that they can now issue a Penalty Notice if a child has been persistently late before the close of the register (coded L) for up to 10 sessions (five days). These do not have to be consecutive days and the lates can be rolled forward.

Please note the following:

  • Children need to be in class between 8.45am and 8.55am.
  • Class doors close at 8.55am
  • Parents and carers arriving late (after 8.55am) need to come to the main office to register their child and book a dinner if required.
  • Attendance registers open at 8.55am and close at 9.15am.
  • Children arriving between 8.55am and 9.15am are coded as late (L) and from now on 10 of these over a (rolling) five week period (100 sessions) can trigger a penalty notice.
  • Children arriving after 9.15am are coded as U and 10 of these over a (rolling) five week period can (as before) trigger a penalty notice.
  • Children who have a mixture of Lates (L) and arriving after 9.15 (U) over a (rolling) five week period can also trigger a penalty notice.
  • Unauthorised leave of absence (O) can contribute to this.

DEBT POLICY

At a recent Governing Body Meeting it was agreed to amend our Debt Policy.  This can be viewed on the school website.  Please note that accounts are expected to be kept clear or in credit.  If a debt of one session is present then unfortunately your child will not be able to attend Breakfast Club or Early Bird until the account is clear again or in credit.

THANK-YOU

A big thank-you to Donna Keeling, wife of one of our governors and whose children attended this school. She came in last week and started work litter picking the copse in the main field. If anyone can help (as detailed below) please contact the office.

OUTDOOR LEARNING

We are developing further how we use our beautiful grounds within our curriculum to ensure our children get lots of opportunities to learn outdoors. If you can help in any of the following ways we would be so grateful:

  • We need to collect sets of wellington boots – if you have any outgrown pairs please could we have them
  • We need to collect light waterproof clothing- if you have any outgrown rain coats / cagoules please could we have them. (Not anoraks – we need light waterproofs).
  • We need to clear the long copse alongside the path to the shops – if you are able to help to do this we would be so grateful. Please contact the school office if you are available to help with this.

Many thanks!
