Newsletter. Monday January 8th 2018

Dear Parents and Carers,

There is no doubt that Facebook has been an advantageous addition to modern society. Like many establishments, we have a school Facebook page whereby we can update parents and keep you informed of any changes and prompt reminders of up and coming events. We reply swiftly to any queries raised by parents. This is a useful and appropriate use of Facebook.

However there is no replacement for coming into school to talk over face to face any concerns or to find out more information or if you wish to clarify something. I am increasingly aware and frustrated when it is brought to my attention regarding Facebook threads which are not only wholly inaccurate and misinformed but have (very occasionally) been a very real cause for concern. When this happens I take advice from our legal team and if necessary will contact the police to agree further action.

What can start as an “innocent” if misinformed thread can end up with other people commenting further on inaccuracies and thus tempers mounting. What could have been resolved quickly and with the individual happy and correctly informed with a conversation in school can end up in a very different place.

Therefore please do use our school Facebook page for anything related to school– that is what it is there for and we will respond swiftly to any queries raised. This supports all parents who may also have the same query. Of course you are always very welcome to pop in or call me / office / other member of staff to discuss anything.
