Newsletter - Week beginning Tuesday April 23rd 2019

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back I hope you had an enjoyable and restful holiday. Here’s to a busy term ahead!

Congratulations to Ms Upton Jones who got married over Easter and is now Mrs Mills.

READ FOR GOOD

Today we are launching our Read for Good Sponsored Read.  Read for Good is a charity that supplies books and storytellers to children in hospital, including Southampton General.  The challenge will run for 2 weeks. We would like you to encourage your children to get as many sponsors as possible, and to read as many books as they can.  It is all about encouraging reading for fun.  Also for every £100 pounds of money raised for the charity, our school will receive £20 of free books.  Please read the letter attached to your child’s sponsorship card for further details.

SUPER BEHAVIOUR REWARDS

As you know at the end of each week children who have not had their name on the sad face receive a certificate celebrating this. At the end of each half term we congratulate the children who haven’t had their name put on the sad face all half term and present them with a small gift as a thank-you and well done. So, well done to all those children who took home their gift at the end of last term.

OUTDOOR LEARNING

We are developing further how we use our beautiful grounds within our curriculum to ensure our children get lots of opportunities to learn outdoors. If you can help in any of the following ways we would be so grateful:

  • We need to collect sets of wellington boots – if you have any outgrown pairs please could we have them
  • We need to collect light waterproof clothing- if you have any outgrown rain coats / cagoules/ waterproof trousers please could we have them. (Not anoraks – we need light waterproofs).
  • We need to clear the long copse alongside the path to the shops – if you are able to help to do this we would be so grateful. Please contact the school office if you are available to help with this.

Many thanks!
