Further Information: I joined the school’s governing body in July 2013 as a parent governor but then moved to a co-opted governor in 2014. I have lived in Eastleigh for 10 years and my eldest is now in Shakespeare Juniors and my youngest has just started in YR in September 2016.  The school has an outstanding reputation and I am keen to support the school in my capacity of governor/critical friend whenever possible.  The next couple of years are going to be critical with the school expansion project and we are lucky to have an outstanding leader in Jane Skinner to take us through the period of change; I look forward, with the support of other governors, in supporting the school maintaining the excellent standards and supporting all children to give them the opportunity for the greatest start in their educational future and ensure their learning environment is a positive one.  As a finance professional, I will bring to the governing body my workplace experience in financial analysis/planning, strategy, risk management and commercial management to add value and advice on the strategic direction of the school.

Pecuniary interests: Assistant Head teacher, Shakespeare Infant School

Type of Governor: Staff

Governor role: Quality of Teaching, Learning and Assessment

Committees: Standards

Further Information: As a Staff Governor it is important that I contribute to whole school initiatives and development in a strategic way. I feel being a Governor gives me a great opportunity to do this whilst also seeing the bigger picture of school life. As the Assistant Head teacher it is important to be able to explain and present ideas and thoughts of the Senior Leadership team to the Governing Body and to be held accountable for the results that those ideas may bring. It is vital that the Governing Body holds the Senior Leadership Team to account in Ofsted terms so that school leadership may be at its most effective. I look forward to being an active and informative member of the Governing Body and in particular, the Standards Committee in the forthcoming years.

Governor role: Chair of Standards Committee, Outcomes for Children

Further Information: I joined as a parent governor recently as I have a keen interest in how the school is run and the support it offers to both the children and parents. I have a daughter who has successfully progressed through the school and recently moved up to the juniors, a son in year 1 and a newborn. My children are completely different in their interests and abilities and I think it is important that all children are encouraged to do their best and enjoy school, and make the most of their abilities.

Further Information: My family and I moved back to England from the US in large part in the interest of a British education for our two young girls. We have a daughter going into Year 3 at the Junior school having enjoyed the last 2 years at the infant school and another daughter in year R at Shakespeare Infant School this year. I don’t take the high level of education standards in England for granted and I realize that it takes a large effort of both professional and volunteer contributors to maintain that standard. I hope to be a constructive contributor to the effort to continue to meet those high standards at Shakespeare for our new neighbours and our own girls.
