We are absolutely delighted that all pupils attending Shakespeare Infant School can return to full time education on Monday 8th March. School attendance will be mandatory for all pupils.
The decision to ease restrictions is made on the balance of risk to public health and educational considerations. Although the public health picture is improving, it remains crucial that we continue to take steps to reduce and mitigate any risks within our Infant School.
It goes without saying that the safety and welfare of our school community and school staff remains incredibly important. Therefore this return to on-site provision for all pupils will be supported by a range of actions designed to minimise the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).
Only one parent/carer will be allowed to drop off and pick up from class following the one way system
Face coverings must be worn by all adults unless exempt
Please do not arrive before your staggered start time – parents congregating to chat is a potential hot spot for virus transmission.
Children in Year 2 will arrive from 8.35am and leave at 3.00pm
Children in Year 1 will arrive from 8.40am and leave at 3.10pm
Children in Year R will arrive at 8.45am and leave at 3.15pm
School gate closes promptly at 8.55am
The scooter park will remain closed for the time being
Children will continue to wash their hands when entering and before exiting their classrooms and at numerous points throughout the school day
Children will not be allowed to bring in personal items from home and all keyrings/cuddlies must be removed from book bags
Each class will remain in their own bubble including playtimes and lunchtimes
Classrooms will remain well ventilated – children may continue to wear additional warm clothing underneath their school clothes
Y1 Move it Monday/Y2 Trackie Tuesday/YR Work out Wednesday continues so please wear appropriate sports clothing for outdoor fitness
Optional twice-weekly asymptomatic testing for staff will continue
Enhanced cleaning throughout the day and after school will continue
It is vital that these preventative measures are implemented well and consistently. The effectiveness of our arrangements have allowed us to successfully stay open since September. Please support us in adhering to all these measures which will be in place until Easter.
We cannot wait to have all of our wonderful children back with their friends and teachers. We know that missing face-to-face education can have a severe impact on young children and that time out of face-to-face education is detrimental for their cognitive and academic development, learning, health and wellbeing. However, our children’s return to school should not have a detrimental impact on our school staff who as yet, have not been offered a first round vaccination. The predominant new variant of coronavirus (COVID-19) is more transmissible so please do not come into school or send your child in if.
you have one or more coronavirus (COVID-19) symptoms
a member of your household (including someone in their support bubble or childcare bubble) has coronavirus (COVID-19) symptoms
a member of your household receives a positive test
We are also hoping to resume some of our after-school educational activities and further information on the reinstatement of after school clubs will follow in due course. Early Bird Club will continue from 8am with places for up to 15 children who already access a place but we will not be able to resume Breakfast Club at present due to staff shortages.
Thank you for your continued support.
