Governor's Meetings - News

Wednesday 19th May 2021

On Wed 19th May, the penultimate full governing board (FGB) meeting for this academic year took place.  Once again it was a virtual, online meeting and governors all agreed that they were looking forward to meeting in person, in school, for the  final meeting of the governing board on 14th July.  Moreover, with lockdown restrictions easing, governors are looking forward to attending school events in person, as and when they are able, hoping to meet, mingle and converse with parents and staff.

At our May FGB, governors were pleased to welcome a new clerk to the governing body, Ms. Justine Hatcher.  Justine has settled well and has already proved extremely knowledgeable and helpful to the governors.  We all look forward to working with Justine and are pleased to have her clerking for the SIS board.

Governors continue to undertake training sessions provided by Hampshire Governor Services and write feedback reports which they give to the FGB.  These ensure every governor is up to date with knowledge and expectations of their roles.  We have a whole governing board training session arranged in early June.  Additionally, during the month of May several governors conducted governor monitoring visits and wrote detailed reports on findings.  These covered Early Years Foundation Stages, Quality of Education, Personal Development behaviours and attitudes in an outdoor setting,  and Leadership and Management.   On the outdoor visit by governors Shears and Reynolds, undertaken with social distancing and mask wearing, children were clearly happy and settled and chatted about loving their outdoor learning in the Woodland.

We do have one parent vacancy and a co-opted member vacancy on the governing board which we hope will be filled shortly.  If anyone is interested in joining us and supporting the school, please contact Mrs. Nikki Wilson or the Chair of governors via the admin team.

Finally, governors wish all staff, pupils and families a relaxing half-term break from 31 May to 4 June; let us hope the rain stops and the sun appears!
