Dear Parents/Carers and children of Shakespeare Infant School,
As you will be aware, our Headteacher Mrs Jane Skinner is due to retire at the end of this academic year. The Governors want to take this opportunity to sincerely thank Mrs Skinner for her dedication to the children, staff, parents and carers of Shakespeare Infant School over the last 22 years as both Deputy Headteacher and for the past 19 years as Headteacher.
Owing to Mrs Skinner’s imminent retirement, the Governing Body has been set the task of conducting a thorough recruitment process to find a high calibre Headteacher to continue to lead the school from next year. This is a task we have embraced with dedication and with a view of appointing the very best candidate to the post.
During November last year we identified the personal attributes that we felt best fits with the culture, ethos and values of Shakespeare Infant School. We also had feedback from parents, staff and children. This gave us a clear idea of the type of candidate we would be looking for. We have also worked closely with colleagues from the local authority during the whole recruitment process.
We agreed a stringent list of criteria to ensure prospective candidates had the ability to build on the excellent standards that Mrs Skinner has embedded during her tenure as Headteacher.
At the beginning of January an advert for the position was advertised and by the beginning of February we had a number of potential candidates. We shortlisted two candidates and they were invited to attend a two-day selection process. This consisted of a day in school completing a range of activities and then a formal interview on day two.
A big thankyou to Mrs Skinner and all the staff for accommodating us during these two days. We would also like to thank the children who, as usual, behaved impeccably.
We are pleased to announce that following a unanimous decision, ratified by the Governing Body we have appointed Mrs Nikki Wilson as our new Headteacher. Mrs Wilson is currently completing a secondment as Acting Headteacher of William Gilpin C of E Primary School in the New Forest and brings a wealth of experience in primary education as a teacher and senior leader.
Please join the Governors in welcoming Mrs Wilson to our school. We wish her the very best in leading Shakespeare Infant School from September 2020.
