Newsletter - Week beginning Monday March 2nd

Dear Parents and Carers,

INFORMATION FOR PARENTS AND CARERS REGARDING CORONOVIRUS

The advice has evolved for travellers recently returning from lockdown areas in Italy and around the world. If you have travelled from these areas, please note the guidance now suggests isolation and contacting NHS 111 for advice. Travellers returning from areas surrounding hotspots are advised to isolate and call NHS 111 if experiencing mild symptoms. Below are two links, the Government website and an Italian news site in English showing affected areas. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/wuhan-novel-coronavirus-information-for-the-public

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO DISCUSS WITH YOUR CHILD THE IMPORTANCE OF REGULAR HAND WASHING AND USING ANTI BACTERIAL HAND GEL. WE WILL BE REMINDING THE CHILDREN OF THIS IN SCHOOL.

SPORTS RELIEF WEEK- NEXT WEEK

On Friday March 13th children (and adults) are invited to wear sports kit for the day in return for a donation to Sport Relief. During the week, to get in to the Sport Relief spirit, children will also be taking part in some team based sporting activities. We are also offering a limited number of Sport Relief wristbands in class and at the office - the perfect way for the children to show their support for Sport Relief. Minimum suggested donation - £1.

YEAR 2 VISIT TO HMS VICTORY

Year 2 will be visiting HMS Victory tomorrow Tuesday March 3rd. Could parents and carers of Year 2 children please ensure you have read the detailed letter sent home last half term. The cost of the trip is £12.82 and contributions towards the cost of the trip can be made via your SCOpay account. All financial contributions will be gratefully received.

YEAR 1 PLANETARIUM IN SCHOOL

Tomorrow, Tuesday March 3rd we will have a planetarium in the hall for our year 1 children to support their current project all about space. It is absolutely amazing and the children have been wowed by this experience in previous years. We would welcome a contribution of £3.95 towards the cost of this, via your SCOpay account. Many thanks in anticipation of your support.

WORLD BOOK DAY

World Book Day is this Thursday March 5th. Children can come to school dressed as their favourite book character. We would welcome a donation of £2 towards restocking our reading books. We have already bought some new books and would like to buy some more but as they cost approximately £5 each this can be expensive. Please ensure children have a sensible outdoor coat and school shoes. Many thanks in anticipation of your support.

WATER IN SCHOOL POLICY

I would like to remind all parents and carers that children’s water bottles should only contain water. This includes children bringing in packed lunches.  This is to promote children’s health. Please see our water policy on our website via the parents tab. Copies are also available in the information stand on the foyer. We provide each child with a clear water bottle when they start at SIS, replacements can be purchased via your SCOpay account and collected from the office. Alternatively children can bring in their own CLEAR water bottle. Thank-you.

PTA CLASS REPS

Would you like to help the PTA from the comfort of your own home without having to commit the time to attend meetings? We are looking for class representatives.

Class Reps will...
- Encourage parents to support the PTA in any way they can
- Communicate with your class about PTA organised events or announcements through Facebook groups/email
- Attend the PTA AGM if possible
- Read minutes of meetings to stay up to date with the PTA
- Share any parent surveys
- Share with the PTA any parent feedback

There will be no limits on the amount of volunteers from each class and can include the teachers if they are willing.

Please let the PTA know if you are able to help via either the “Shakespeare Infants PTA” Facebook group or via the email address
pta@shakespeare-inf.hants.sch.uk
