Dear Parents and Carers,

 

Welcome back!  I hope you had a relaxing break with family and friends’ enjoying what has been a lovely summer weather wise.  A warm welcome to our new children, families and staff. I must say how smart the children look in their school uniform and school shoes.

 

STAFF UPDATE

A very warm welcome to the following new members of staff who have joined our team:
Mrs Wendy Johnson who has joined our Year 2 team teaching Owl Class

Miss Bahar Esfandiari who has joined our Year 1 team teaching Squirrel Class

Miss Claire Ward who has joined our Year R team teaching Butterfly Class

Miss Sophie Hutin, Mrs Amanda Caswell and Mrs Jo Davies have all joined our

learning support team.

 

GOVERNOR VACANCIES

We have two vacancies on our governing body. If you are interested in supporting the school in a strategic way then this role may be of interest for you. Our governors are an excellent team of committed, hard -working and supportive parents and other members of the community.

Please consider the following before applying:

  • The role requires a minimum commitment of two meetings per half term. The main GB meeting is held from 6pm – 8.30 pm each half term. There are two committees (curriculum and general purpose covering health and safety, finance, personnel and safeguarding) of which you would need to join one.
  • Governors are expected to be able to visit the school occasionally during the school day.
  • We would welcome (but not essential) financial knowledge and skills or project management/ strategic knowledge and skills.

READING DIARIES REMINDER

We have had our own bespoke reading diaries made for all year groups. They look super and support how we approach reading at SIS. They are expensive so please do ensure that it is looked after. Please read with your child each

day and write one comment a week in the space provided (see below).

Please ensure it is back in your child’s book bag each day.

The diary should last for the year. Lost diaries won’t be replaced but a

new one can be purchased for £3.

 

WELCOME TO YEAR 1 AND 2 MEETINGS

As detailed in your class letters last term we are repeating the meetings regarding what you need to know about Years 1 and 2. Well behaved younger siblings are welcome. They last approximately an hour.

THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 12th 2.15pm YEAR 2 MEETING IN HALL

 

AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS

After school clubs will start week beginning September 16th

 

DOGS IN AND AROUND SCHOOL GROUNDS AND GATES.

Please be reminded that dogs are not allowed on site and for their well-being should not be left tied to the railings. Thank-you.

 

ACADEMIC DIARY
Please note that the school academic diary for this academic year is now on the school website www.shakespeareinfantschool.co.uk. We include as much detail as possible to allow you to prepare and plan – notably for school visits and school closure days. However occasionally dates are planned so far in advance we may need to alter therefore please read the weekly newsletter which will remind you of the dates as well as any changes.
