Computing
At Shakespeare Infant School, we want our children to become confident, creative and responsible users of technology. Our Computing curriculum helps children develop the knowledge and skills they need to thrive in an increasingly digital world, while learning how to use technology positively, responsibly and most importantly safely.
Children develop their learning through the three key areas of Computer Science, Information Technology and Digital Literacy. They have opportunities to explore coding and algorithms, use a range of digital tools to create and communicate, and develop their understanding of how technology is used in everyday life.
Online safety is at the heart of our curriculum. Through Computing, Wellbeing and PSHE, children learn about keeping personal information private, making safe choices online, treating others with respect and knowing what to do if something online makes them feel uncomfortable.
Computing skills are taught progressively and are also used across the wider curriculum, helping children to develop independence, creativity, collaboration and critical thinking. By the end of Key Stage 1, we aim for our children to have the confidence and independence to choose and use appropriate digital tools to support their learning.
