I am looking forward to meeting you all in September for your first year of 'big' school! We are going to have so much fun this year with lots of lovely learning. When you come to school, each term we will introduce you to a new project focusing on different areas, for example we have a project on fairy tales, pirates and minibeasts!

Our first project is called 'Getting to Know You' where we will play lots of games to get to know our classmates, become familiar with the classroom and explore the school grounds. We ask if you can participate in our home learning project over the summer holidays, you can find more information under the 'Home learning' tab, also it has been sent to you with your class letter.

Let's look a some of the things we've been up to!

Getting to know our friends and the classrom!

Our next project is 'Humpty and Friends'. The children will be introduced to different nursery rhymes with a focus on Humpty Dumpty. The children will discover a message from Humpty Dumpty who has ended up hurt in hospital. Each week the children will discover another nursery rhyme and these friends of Humpty all go to visit him in hospital. Humpty Dumpty is discharged from hospital and all of the different nursery rhyme characters visit him for a party. The children will come to school dressed as a Nursery Rhyme character for a special day on Thursday 3rd December 2020. They will need to recite and perform a Nursery Rhyme which will be uploaded on to Tapestry. The children are going to learn how complete a Video Recording so be prepared for a fun and enjoyable half term!

Please have a look at our classroom tour and a welcome video to meet myself and listening to a favourite story I have read for you.

Other important information about school:

Each week, we do P.E on a Wednesday morning (Work Out Wednesdays). This term we will be getting to know the hall and learning about spacial awareness. Please make sure your child comes into school wearing their P.E kit.

On a Monday, we will have a shorter P.E session in school uniform. Please send your child into school with appropriate footwear.

Our reading session is on a Tuesday and we hand in our reading diaries on a Monday morning. We will be learning the Oxford Reading Tree (ORT) character names and recognition of them.
