Three of my five grandchildren were pupils at the school and I was very impressed by the atmosphere and dedication to the progression of the children. As a volunteer schools outreach officer for the RSPB I was invited in to give presentations on birds and wildlife to the children over the last 10 years. This led to my involvement in the development of the woods as an outdoor learning area. 

I have now been invited to be a Governor focusing on Outdoor Learning and Development and look forward to taking an active part in the school management and governance.

Further Information:  I live locally to the school and both my daughters (now grown up) attended the school. I retired after 40 years working in the Railway Industry, culminating in a Senior Manager position. I moved to the area towards the end of 2021 having spent the past decade living and working in London. It has always been important to me to be a part of the local community and to give some my time and energy to it. I am very excited about becoming a Parent Governor, as having had a child recently progress through the school and another just starting in Year R, I really wanted to become part of the team, that brings this school together in such a strong and successful way. My background is in Operational/Finance roles within the Sports and Radio Media industries. 

My current job role, is as a Financial Assistant within a local Secondary School and I have worked in Secondary Education for 7 years now. I use Financial systems that Shakespeare Infants also use as well as looking after finances for trips and school events. I feel these skills help benefit my role as a Parent Governor as I understand how these systems work as both a parent and as a member of staff.
