Further Information:  I wanted to be a governor at Shakespeare Infant school to be part of the team that drives the strategic vision of the school. I work at the University of Southampton in a Research and Enterprise unit specialising in analysing geographical data and delivery professional training.  I am a member of the Parent and Carer Network at the University and have three children ( one a past pupil, one a current pupil and one I hope will start in 2023). Sarah Kesterson

Pecuniary interests: Assistant Head teacher, Shakespeare Infant School

Type of Governor: Staff

Governor role: Pupil Premium, Safer Recruitment

Committees: Standards

Further Information: As a Staff Governor it is important that I contribute to whole school initiatives and development in a strategic way. I feel being a Governor gives me a great opportunity to do this whilst also seeing the bigger picture of school life. As the Assistant Head teacher it is important to be able to explain and present ideas and thoughts of the Senior Leadership team to the Governing Body and to be held accountable for the results that those ideas may bring. It is vital that the Governing Body holds the Senior Leadership Team to account in Ofsted terms so that school leadership may be at its most effective. I look forward to being an active and informative member of the Governing Body and in particular, the Standards Committee in the forthcoming years.

Type of Governor: Co-opted

Governor role: Chair of Full Governing Body, Effectiveness of Leadership and Management, Prevent

Committees: General Purpose

Further Information: I joined the school’s governing body in September 2015 as co-opted governor. I have lived in Eastleigh for most of my life and I am part of a family that has seen 4 generations pass through Shakespeare. With one of my daughters currently in year 2 and my son hopefully attending year R next year I am keen to support the school in maintaining what is already an exceptional and positive learning environment for young children. As a construction professional I will bring to the governing body my workplace experience in risk management, commercial management and planning to add value and advice on the strategic direction of the school.

Type of Governor: Parent

Governor role:

Committees: General Purpose

Further Information:

As a former pupil myself, with one child who has progressed through the school and another hopefully starting in 2021, the continuation of the school's excellent reputation and development of the curriculum it offers is important to me. My background is in data quality & information management and I currently work for the NHS in information analysis.
My aim is to actively contribute to the governing body in planning and delivering the best strategic plan for the school, so that all children can benefit from the very best education Shakespeare Infant School has to offer

Pecuniary interests: None

Type of Governor: Co-opted

Governor role: SEN/LAC, Outcomes for Children, HT Performance Management Panel.

Committees: General Purpose

Further Information: I joined as a parent governor recently as I have a keen interest in how the school is run and the support it offers to both the children and parents. I have a daughter who has successfully progressed through the school and recently moved up to the juniors, a son in year 1 and a newborn. My children are completely different in their interests and abilities and I think it is important that all children are encouraged to do their best and enjoy school, and make the most of their abilities.

Type of Governor: Co-opted

Governor role: Vice-chair

Committees: Standards

Further Information: I have lived very happily in Eastleigh with my family for 37 years.  My two sons are now grown adults and my husband has retired.   Education has always been very important to me, particularly ensuring all children from all backgrounds have equal opportunity to prosper educationally.  Currently, I work part-time as a researcher in education at the Institute of Education, University of Reading and  run a longitudinal study following ten boys, who struggle in school and participate in outdoor learning on nature reserves, to explore how outdoor experiences might help with their indoor learning, attitudes and behaviours.  Alongside my research, I have published papers working collaboratively with Dr. R Harris, an IoE colleague, on the history curriculum and in Jan. 2018, I had a book published by Routledge Education entitled: 'Chinese Students in UK Further Education: aspirations, motivations and choices'.  Since 3rd May 2018 I have been an Eastleigh Borough Councillor for north ward which I find very rewarding; it enables me to connect with local residents and work for the local community.
