Shakespeare Infant School

We Care

Welcome to Shakespeare Infant School

On behalf of the children, staff and governors I would like to warmly welcome you to Shakespeare Infant School and our school website. My name is Nikki Wilson and I am very proud to be the head teacher of this school.

Shakespeare Infant School is a wonderful place to be a learner. This is exemplified in our school motto “We Care” which is a huge part of what we do here.  We all care deeply about our children and each other.  We have high aspirations and truly want the very, very best for each and every one of our children.

Therefore our six learning values underpin all we do.

Thinking, independence, creativity, spirituality, collaboration and emotional intelligence. Each learning value is represented with an animal puppet which helps the children to develop these learning values. We plan for opportunities to learn and demonstrate them within our academic and wider curriculum. We want the children who come here to leave with these values firmly instilled in them: to stand up for what they believe in and to try new things, to be kind and caring and inclusive to others and to have empathy and respect for the world around them.

Our children thrive amazingly well here and make accelerated progress from their varied starting points.  They consistently attain in line with or above the national average in reading, writing and maths.

Our children are also polite, well mannered, well behaved and enjoy being at this school. We often receive compliments regarding their conduct both within school and when out and about. If you came to visit us you would find happy, smiling children busy learning and displaying super manners.

We are very proud of our curriculum as it is based upon exciting and engaging integrated projects which inspire our children to want to learn more.  Each project has a hook and a meaningful outcome which gives purpose and context to the children’s learning. As a staff we spend a lot of time reviewing our curriculum to make it better and better. We ask the children what they think about their learning opportunities and how to improve what we offer.

We have lots of trips throughout the year as well as visitors and engaging in-school experiences. Look on our website under the curriculum tab for more information about our exciting projects. We also invest in high quality PE coaching, including opportunities to play competitive sport, and professional music tuition for all. We offer a  wide range of extracurricular activities during the day and after school. Please see the section all about clubs on the website.

The partnership between home and school is fundamental to your child’s success. Children achieve more when schools and parents work together. There are lots of opportunities for you to get involved in your child’s school life.  Our fund raising committee (FOSI) is a great way to support the school, help out and meet new friends so please look out for opportunities to join in.

It is a privilege to be the Head teacher of such a caring, aspirational and successful school. If you think we could be the perfect fit for your family, please contact us to book a tour to see what you think. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I look forward to meeting you and your child.

Best wishes,

Nikki Wilson
